A Boat Load of Bobs

Today I had a boat load of “Bobs” that enjoyed another beautiful day on Tampa Bay. The elder “Bob” is a winter visitor to our area and was joined today by his son-in-law, Bob K, and his grandson, RJ. While visiting grandad the guys also took in some Oriole’s spring training baseball. The “Bobs” booked thier charter through Captain K’s Bait and Tackle on Central Avenue and 66th Street in Saint Petersburg.
As arranged we met at the Gulfport Municipal Marina at 8AM. We loaded some live shrimp into the baitwell just in case the trout should refuse our artifical offerings and then we set off to flats of lower Boca Ceiga Bay. The first fish of the day was a nice Spanish mackerel whose sharp teeth somehow managed not to cut Bob K’s leader. The mack was followed by a fairly steady stream of trout and more mackerel. At the end of the morning the guys took home a nice bag of fillets and some great memories of three generations of “Bobs” spending quality time together on Tampa Bay.
